Many equine and canine massage therapists come to the profession with little or no knowledge of the animals they are working on. Tammy brought an extensive background in horses and dogs with her before pursueing her massage certification and attending the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage. Tammy's background includes extensive experience in starting and training horses using natural methods, working as a farrier, breeding curly horses, and training, and breeding Saint Bernards and Basset Hounds.
In addition to sports and therapeutic massage and accupressure, Tammy also offers photonic light therapy, a natural therapy promoting the body’s own immune responses, it’s own methods of controlling pain and it’s own healing abilities.
Based out of Sundre, Alberta, Tammy offers her services to much of central Alberta, and will travel to other locations. Travel charges may apply to some locations.
Why Use These Holistic Treatments On Your Horse?
Animal Massage is the therapeutic application of professional sports massage techniques applied to the animal. These hands on techniques accomplish increased performance levels and endurance as well as helping to prevent injury. They improve the rate of recovery from injury by increasing circulation and reducing muscular tension and stress, the primary causes of muscle injury. It is also of great value for mental relaxation and the prevention of muscle atrophy. Prompt attention to those "minor" muscle injuries not only enhances an animal's performance but may prevent future problems.
Some therapeutic treatments are not appropriate for some sitiuations. We cannot overstress the importance of correct diagnosis of the problems your animal is having, which can only be obtained by a licensed veterinary practitioner. Massage is not a substitute for proper veterinary care. Sometimes what is correct therapy for one situation, may be the wrong therapy for its underlying cause. If you have any doubt as to the condition of your horse, please call your veterinarian! We also encourage the use of infrared thermography to assist in pinpointing problem areas and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment progressions..
